The Ultimate Stag Do Playlist

Stag party coming up? Trying to put together the ultimate playlist from start to finish? Well, look no further! Whether you are staying in Ireland, or travelling a bit further afield, this playlist of classic Irish tunes that everyone will know, will ensure the best craic and groovy dance moves to get the party started.

Number 1

Let’s dive right in.  Number one is Thin Lizzy.  Who doesn’t love the raspy vocals of Phil Lynott? “Whisky in the Jar” is bound to get everyone pumped and busting out the moves! Follow that up with “The Boys are Back in Town” and you are on your way to a night of successful celebration and bonding with all the lads.

Number 2

U2.  Another Dublin based group headed by the famous Bono.  Why not start with “Beautiful Day”? It’s catchy and a good tune to bop to.  You could follow it up with “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”, an oldie but one that everyone is bound to know all the words to!

Number 3

The Cranberries.  A world-famous band from Limerick, the haunting vocals of Dolores O’Riordon (RIP) paired with the rock genre is the perfect balance for a night out with the boys. Choose from “Zombie”, “Linger” or “Dreams” to name just a few of their most famous hits to get you started.

Number 4

The Script.  Back to Dublin again for a more recent pop group.  “Hall of Fame”, “Man Who Can’t Be Moved”, “Breakeven”, “Superheroes” and if you want a little something to bond to and reminisce on friendship “Run Through Walls” is the perfect song!

Number 5

The Saw Doctors. This classic Galway based group will get everyone moving and shouting out loud with their hits “I Used to Love Her” and “N17”.  It doesn’t get much more Irish than this!  If there are any Kilkenny Cats in the group, then optional lyric changes are mandatory!

Number 6

And heading up North for Snow Patrol.  I don’t know about you, but their song “Just Say Yes” seems very fitting for a Stag party.  Say “yes” to a night of laughs and craic with the boys before saying “yes” to the love of your life!

Number 7

And back to Dublin’s Fair City for The Coronas.  Pop, young, trendy and oh so catchy, these boys will keep the party going all night long.  The list is limitless with this talented group.  Favourites include “San Diego Song”, “Addicted to Progress”, “Someone Else’s Hands” or slow it down a little with “Heroes or Ghosts”.

Number 8

And back up North to Bangor in Co. Down for Two Door Cinema Club.  Their unique, Indie rock sound is perfect for keeping the positive vibes alive.  Try “What You Know”, “Something Good Can Work” and “I Can Talk “to get you started.

Number 9

Hudson Taylor.  These brothers from Dublin will surely keep the night young with their upbeat rhythms and fast guitar strumming paired with the Irish fiddle. “Chasing Rubies”, “Run with Me”, “What Do You Mean?” and “Battles” are just a few of their expertly crafted songs.

Number 10

Last, but by no means least, for number ten we have chosen Wicklow native Hozier.  This brilliant artist has created numerous hits full of poetic lyrics and powerful messages.  Start with his international breakthrough debut single “Take Me to Church” and follow up with “Nina Cried Power”, “Jackie and Wilson” and “Angel of Small Death”.  Why not finish up with Hozier’s cover of the traditional Irish tune “The Parting Glass”.

So, there you have it! A list of ten Irish bands/musicians to create the perfect playlist for your stag party no matter where you go!
